Der Film handelt von einem angeberischen Geschäftsmann, der nach einem Fallschirmsprung vermisst und für tot gehalten wird. Seine Tochter, die sich um die Trauerfeierlichkeiten kümmern will, trifft zu Hause auf die Frau seines Vaters sowie ihre fünf Vorgängerinnen, die sich darum streiten, wer den (Ex-)Mann beerdingen darf und wer ihn am meisten geliebt hat. Daß der Gute eventuell noch lebt, kommt den Frauen bei ihren Streitigkeiten allerdings kaum in den Sinn.
